Calamus is an excellent layout software, everybody agrees on that.
However, its use for certain operations is not as intuitive as it would
seem.
The aim of these pages is to allow you to benefit from my experience,
acquired by doing numerous documents (which some of them are available
from this page -see below -, as examples or because their content might
interest someone - I can always dream...), especially when doing the
layout of the book Architecture de la matière published by Bréal
editions, in the Puissance Prépa line.
You will found in these pages:
A last word: my works concern mainly layout where text is preponderant.
Thus do not expect lots of tricks on graphics under Calamus, but
rather on text layout... At least as a beginning.
It is obvious that every contributions are welcome to enhance this list
of tips and tricks; you can send them at: curis@lure.u-psud.fr if
someone is willing to translate these pages in another language, I would
have no objection, provided of course I am kept informed.
Enjoy your reading... and good work with Calamus.
I almost forgot... All this information concern TOS versions of Calamus
(S, SL93, SL95, SL96, SL98); part of it probably works also with Calamus
for Windows, but without any guaranty. Furthermore, there will not be
anything neither on 1.09n, which I do not know (or rather I completely
forgot about it), nor on Calamus SL94 which has never been distributed in
France.
Some thanks
I will like to thank for their remarks on these pages Bert and
Marie Noelle, Joël Pagé, A. Guérard and Didier Briel.
Translation Credits
I thank a lot Didier Briel for his translation job:
